MOLAA’s 20th Anniversary Festival
Celebrate MOLAA’s birthday with live performances, workshops, tours, and a special scavenger hunt!
April:
2nd Annual Long Beach Zine Fest
Similar to Mexico’s prensa de a centavo (“penny press”), zines are inexpensive printed booklets that make it easy to spread information. Check out zines written, illustrated and published by artists from throughout the area, enjoy music by local bands, and participate in DIY workshops!
June:
Multicultural Festival
Learn about the ethnic and cultural diversity of Latin American music, food, and traditions in Long Beach, one of the country’s most diverse cities!
September:
Latino Comics Expo
MOLAA kicks off Latino Heritage Month with the Latino Comics Expo, an event that will feature Latino comic artists from throughout the country! Panel discussions and workshops explore the history and legacy of Latin American culture through the comic genre.
October:
D?a de los Muertos Festival
Honor ancestors and heroes of past at MOLAA’s Day of the Dead festival. Participate in a short procession, decorate sugar skulls, participate in a calavera look-a-like contest, and bring an item to place on the community altar!
December:
Craft & Beyond
MOLAA honors sustainability and the tradition of hand-made objects at Craft & Beyond, a festival that will highlight DIY culture, upcycling, and traditional as well as contemporary crafts.
All festivals take place 11AM-5PM
Admission, workshops, performances, and face-painting are FREE.
Food and drinks are available for purchase.
