WASHINGTON, Jan 8, 2015 – Unibright Foods Inc., a Bell Gardens, Calif., establishment, is recalling approximately 48,139 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat sukiyaki beef and gingered pork products that may be contaminated with metal extraneous materials, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

  • 2.2 lb. packages of “MISHIMA SUKIYAKI BEEF” bearing the establishment number “EST.1163” inside the USDA mark of inspection and package ID number “15069.”
  • 1.7 lb. packages of “MISHIMA GINGERED PORK” bearing the establishment number “EST.1163” inside the USDA mark of inspection and package ID number “15059.”

The beef product was produced between Aug. 12, 2014, and Dec. 16, 2014. The gingered pork product was produced between Aug. 5, 2014, and Aug. 6, 2014. The products were shipped to institutions and retail outlets in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, New Jersey, and New York.
The problem was reported to Unibright Foods, Inc. by a distributor who was notified by a restaurant in Illinois that they found a stainless steel wire in a sukiyaki beef product. FSIS and the company have received no reports of injury or illness from consumption of the product. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness from consumption of these products should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling firms notify theircustomers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.
